In 1890, William Wallace Stickney built a home on Main Street in Ludlow as a present for his bride Lizzie, eight years before becoming Governor of Vermont. He lived on Main Street until his death in the 1930's. Today the governor's home is an inn -- a stylish, romantic Victorian country house with nine guest rooms, each with its own antiques. All guest rooms have private baths.

Common Rooms of the Governor's Inn include a spacious foyer with fireplace and a whispering alcove, a living room with an ornate slate fireplace, dining and breakfast rooms, and a den with full beverage service. Of course, there's a porch for stomping off snow in the winter and for rocking in summer.

From the moment you step into the Governor's Inn historic Victorian country home, you are surrounded by gracious elegance and warm hospitality. Experience the relaxing pleasure of a bountiful afternoon tea with sweets and tea sandwiches served in the parlor or enjoyed on the front porch. Awake each morning to deliciously inviting aromas of the three course country breakfast which you will enjoy as you contemplate your plans for the day. Take along one of CathyÂ’s gourmet picnics as you explore the Vermont countryside. And when you return - treat yourself to fine dining with our legendary multi-course gourmet dinner - a pleasure reserved exclusively for guests staying at the inn.
